Belleville Fire knocked down a blaze in a basement overnight.
Early Friday morning, crews were called to the 100 block of Moira Street West where the fire was in the basement of a home.
The lone male inside escaped without injury, but was checked out by paramedics.
Moira Street West was closed while crews brought the blaze under control with what was described as an aggressive interior attack.
Deputy Fire Chief Mark Shannon says members will be investigating to determine a cause.
