Children’s Safety Village of Belleville announces its upcoming Car Seat Safety Caregiver Program, a free educational session designed to help parents, grandparents, caregivers, and guardians better understand child passenger safety and ensure children are properly protected every time they travel.
The Village is offering this free one-hour program in partnership with Lisa Lapierre, Strategic Regional Outreach Coordinator with the Ministry of Transportation, and Allen Magee, President of MADD Quinte and Quinte West OPP Auxiliary Constable, who will provide caregivers with expert guidance on child passenger safety, current legislation, and the proper selection and installation of child car seats.
Motor vehicle collisions remain one of the leading causes of injury among children. Choosing the correct car seat, installing it properly, and knowing when it is time to transition to the next stage are some of the most important steps caregivers can take to protect young passengers.
This free educational program will provide practical knowledge, hands-on guidance, and the confidence families need to help keep children safe on every journey.
Participants will learn:
- Key statistics to better understand the factors involved in motor vehicle collisions.
- Ontario’s child car seat laws and regulations.
- How to properly choose and install a child car seat.
- How to determine whether a child car seat meets current safety standards.
- When a child is ready to transition to the next stage of child restraint.
The program will be offered on:
- Wednesday, July 29, 2026 – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
- Monday, August 17, 2026 – 5:00 p.m.
All sessions will take place at Children’s Safety Village of Belleville, located at 129 South John Street, Belleville, Ontario.
Please note that the final July 29 session schedule will be based on registration numbers and participant interest.
Registration is required. To register, visit bit.ly/4vmEiIA, email programs@csvbelleville.com, or call 613-243-1059.
