One person is facing charges after a collision in Cramahe sent an individual to hospital with life‑threatening injuries.
On April 4 at around 3:15 a.m., members of Northumberland OPP, Cramahe Fire Department and Northumberland Paramedics responded to a report of a person in a ditch off Huycke Road.
Police say that a heavily-damaged all-terrain vehicle (ATV) was located nearby.
The individual was taken to a local hospital and later airlifted to another medical centre with life‑threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, the driver of a second vehicle believed to be involved in the collision was identified.
Thirty-three-year-old Joseph Huycke of the Township of Cramahe, was charged with the following offences:
- Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
- Failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm
- Obstructing a peace officer
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on July 15, 2026.
The Northumberland OPP Crime Unit is conducting the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
