An officer from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with impaired driving after investigating a single vehicle collision.
On Saturday at approximately 10:00pm, an officer from the Peterborough County OPP was dispatched to a report of a vehicle that had gone into the ditch on County Road 50 in Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township. The vehicle left the roadway with an impact that caused the airbags to deploy.
The officer arrived on scene to find the vehicle however there was no driver with it. The officer patrolled the area locating the vehicle driver a distance away attempting to avoid contact with police. The driver, after a brief conversation with the officer, was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for testing.
Clayton DUNK (age 29) of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township, ON., was arrested and charged with;
• Operation while impaired
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on July 14, 2026.
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.
