A house on Hamilton Road right at the intersection with Wallbridge-Loyalist Road burned to the ground early this (Saturday) morning.
Quinte West firefighters, along with OPP and Hastings-Quinte Paramedics responded at just after 2 o’clock.
Fire Chief John Whalen tells Quinte News that even after a quick response, firefighters arrived to find the entire house up in flames.
“In my opinion, very odd. We usually have a fire in one sector of the house not the fully-involved house so we’re looking at that, the fire load and the circumstances, whether anyone was here or not.”
Whalen says the home’s owner is believed to be in Kingston but it’s possible the son might be there.
OPP are investigating and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been called. Quinte West Fire Stations 3 and 4 responded while Belleville Fire and Emergency Services went on standby.
The stretch of Hamilton Road between Wallbridge-Loyalist and Aikins roads will be closed to traffic for an investigation until further notice.
