We asked network spokesperson Donna Vanderkloet why those two trustees were specifically invited.
“They seem to be pushing for change or pushing for hearing from parents or being more transparent with parents, which appealed to us. It’s just kind of always an ongoing challenge to get parents to reach out, but to also get responses.”
She also told Quinte News about the groups priorities.
“A lot of the parents in our network have kids in school. We have lots of conversations around advocacy in school, issues with getting sufficient support in school, keeping our kids in school, all of those sorts of things.”
The ability to speak, governance, busing, funding, and other challenges were discussed at the event.
HPEDSB Board Chair Dr. Kari Kramp, Director of Education Katherine Maciver, and other schools officials were part of the audience.
About 30-35 people were in attendance for the forum.
