Prince Edward County Mayor Steve Ferguson is putting forward a motion at Tuesday’s meeting of Prince Edward County Council, calling on the province to increase a rebate the municipality gets for HST spent.
In his motion, Mayor Ferguson outlines that while the federal government returns 100-per cent of their portion of HST collected from the municipality to the municipality, the province only returns 78-per cent as a rebate.
He is calling for the province to return the full amount, providing municipalities with more funding they can use to maintain local infrastructure.
Council will meet and discuss the motion, at 7:00 p.m.
