An employee has been charged with fraud.
Belleville police investigated the fraud on January 14, 2026.
It was reported to police that an individual had purchased items from a business and later sought a refund and provided personal banking information for processing.
Later, the employee is alleged to have attempted to transfer funds from the customer’s account into her own.
As a result of investigation, officers obtained an arrest warrant for the employee for the following offences:
- Fraud over $5,000
- Obtaining by false pretence – under
- Use of credit card
On May 16, 26-year-old Claudia Okal of Belleville, was located and arrested on the strength of the arrest warrant.
She was held for a bail hearing.
