New residential construction was responsible for a large increase in the dollar value of construction activity in Quinte West last month.
The Building Department reports 39 permits with a construction value of $22.1 million were issued in April.
There were 37 permits issued in April of 2025 but the construction was only valued at $4.1 million.
The bulk of last month’s total comes from permits for 10 new residential construction projects worth $21.1 million including a $16.1 million residential building on Douglas Road.
Year-to-date building stats show 128 permits valued at $37.8 million through April 30.
There were 161 permits worth $22.3 million during the first four months of 2025.
