Peterborough OPP were dispatched to a call where a cyclist had been run off the road, causing injury.
On April 17, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers from the Peterborough County OPP received a call related to a cyclist that had been run off the road on County Road 32 near County Road 33 in Douro Dummer Township. The caller was EMS who advised the male cyclist had lots of road rash, lacerations, and was bleeding from the mouth.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment but was later transported to a trauma centre in Toronto due to the extent of their injuries.
The injured party advised the investigating officer that while on the trail, there was a group of individuals on electric motorcycles (E-bikes) operating them in a dangerous manner. The victim exchanged words with one of the riders who kicked at the cyclist knocking them off their bike causing them to fall. The motorcycle in question was a black electric motorcycle without pedals.
Investigators are actively looking for information that may lead to the identification of the suspect(s) involved in this assault.
