The numbers are in for how much warming centres offered by Hastings County were used in the past year.
During Wednesday’s meeting of the Hastings County Community and Human Services Committee, there was discussion regarding a report outlining the status of the warming centre program.
During the 2025/26 winter season, Hastings County operated warming centres in Bancroft and Quinte West. The Quinte West warming centre was open for 121 nights, and saw 75 different users. An average of 13 users attended on any given night that the centre was open, and operating the centre cost $178,875 for the season.
The Bancroft Warming Centre was operated under a new hybrid model, with a traditional seating area and a sleeping area. The centre was open on 121 nights, and saw 36 unique users. An average of seven users visited each night, with five staying the whole night. The cost to operate the centre was $181,513 over the season.
Overall, the program cost $360,388. This is a slight increase from the previous season.
The committee accepted the report with no further action at this time.
