Northumberland OPP have charged two teenagers following several incidents over the weekend.
On Saturday, officers responded to an alarm activation at a school in Campbellford just after 11:50 p.m.
Police spotted damage to an entry point and evidence the building had been entered, with items reported stolen.
No suspects were located at the time.
Officers also attended a nearby school where graffiti was discovered on an exterior wall.
A local Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) assisted with the investigation.
The next day, at around 2 a.m., OPP were informed that a portable toilet had been set on fire at a recreational park on Saskatoon Avenue.
Police received a description of the individuals believed to be responsible.
At around 5:00 a.m., officers located and spoke with several youths in the area.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old male from the Township of Cramahe and a 14-year-old male from the Municipality of Trent Hills were charged with:
- Break and enter – commit indictable offence
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Mischief – destroys or damages property (three counts)
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
The accused cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in June.
