Ellis seeking reelection

Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis will be seeking another term at the head of the horseshoe.

With the municipal election nomination period opening up today, Ellis wasted no time announcing that he is seeking reelection.

He says serving the community has been one of the greatest honours of his life but there is more to do.

“Looking ahead there’s exciting momentum we have right now. I can tell you there’s significant investment opportunities and announcements that are on the horizon that will bring opportunities, jobs and a tax base to the city.”

Ellis believes council accomplished a lot over the last four years and more can be done with him at the helm.

“We have the biggest grants from the federal government. We’ve achieved over $30 million towards infrastructure. And I’m working hard with other levels of government and I do have the connections there.”

He says over the past term the city has significantly strengthened physician recruitment helping them address long-standing healthcare challenges along with supporting new housing, businesses and investing in infrastructure.

Ellis served two terms as Belleville’s mayor from 2006-2014 before his election as Bay of Quinte MP for the Liberal government from 2015-2019.

He was elected mayor again in 2022.

Municipal elections will be held across the province on October 26.

I’m proud to announce that I will be seeking re-election as Mayor in the 2026 municipal election.

Serving this community has been one of the greatest honours of my life. Over the past term, we’ve made real progress together. We’ve taken meaningful steps to strengthen physician recruitment—helping address long-standing healthcare challenges and improving access to care for residents. By working closely with our healthcare partners and having an exceptional physician recruiter on staff, we’ve made headway on an issue that matters deeply to so many families and i am confident we can solve the crisis over the next term of Council.

We’ve also focused on responsible development and sustainable growth. From supporting new housing and local businesses to investing in infrastructure, we are building a stronger, more vibrant city that people are proud to call home. Our community is growing, and we’re ensuring that growth is thoughtful, balanced, and beneficial for everyone.

Looking ahead, there is exciting momentum. We have significant investment announcements on the horizon that will bring new opportunities, jobs, and energy to our city.

There is more work to do, and I’m motivated every day by the people in this community. I look forward to continuing to listen, collaborate, and lead with a focus on progress and connection
