A cause has been identified in a recent Belleville structure fire.
Firefighters responded to a home along River Road on Saturday after a fire broke out. An investigation found that the fire was caused by an electrical issue.
The fire was contained to a room above an attached garage, with damage estimated at $100,000. No one was injured in the fire.
Belleville Fire & Emergency Services is reminding everyone not to use electrical appliances with damaged cords and to ensure they are listed to be used in Canada. Everyone is also reminded to make sure there are functional smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms on all levels of your home.
