The City of Pickering will vote on a housing development plan next month that could transform the municipality’s landscape over the next 25 years.
Mayor Kevin Ashe says the plan could see homes built for more than 70,000 people.
But a local First Nation is sounding the alarm about a lack of consultation, saying there hasn’t been meaningful dialogue on the plan.
Abdullah Mir, with the advocacy group Stop Durham Sprawl, has also raised concerns about the development plan, including its cost and possible environmental impacts.
