New and much higher development charges could come into effect in Centre Hastings in May.
A development charge by-law is to come to council for approval, that would see charges on a new single-family
home in Madoc go up to just over $27,000 from the current $14,000.
In the rural part of the municipality the charge would increase to $12,300 from $8,600.
Development charges are a tool used to fund growth-related infrastructure required to support new development, including services such as roads, water, wastewater, stormwater, and parks.
