Belleville police have arrested several people on drug trafficking charges, after executing a pair of search warrants.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on Thursday, in the area of Ann and Dundas streets, and made two arrests after an investigation. Following the traffic stop, two drug search warrants were executed in Belleville with the assistance of the Belleville Police K9 and Emergency Response Unit.
As a result of police investigation, the following people were arrested and charged:
Abdullahi Mohamed, a 26-year-old Toronto man, was charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime under $5000, and two counts of failure to comply with an undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing.
Shelby Claus, a 19-year-old Belleville woman, was charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime under $5000. She was held for a bail hearing.
Samantha Lajoie, a 20-year-old Belleville woman, was charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime under $5000, and failure to comply with a probation order. She also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was held for a bail hearing.
Michael Gunn, a 41-year-old Belleville man, was charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime under $5000, and failure to comply with a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.
Todd MacDonald, a 54-year-old Belleville man, was charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and released on an undertaking with a scheduled court date in May.
In total, police seized 44.2 grams of fentanyl, $595 in Canadian currency, an imitation handgun, and cell phones.
