A six-year jail sentence was laid against a man in a case involving intimate partner violence charges.
After a trial on some charges and guilty pleas to others, Javen Partica was found guilty by Justice Robert Horton at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on the following charges:
- Sexual assault
- Assault
- Disobeying a court order x 2
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Uttering threats to cause death
- Criminal harassment
Partica was given credit for 35.5 months of time spent in pre-trial custody.
He was also ordered to give a sample of his DNA, was placed on the national sexual offender registry for life, was prevented from having weapons for 10 years and was banned from communicating with the victim while in jail.
