With municipal elections coming up this fall, Quinte West has once again joined the Joint Compliance Audit Committee.
During Wednesday’s council meeting, councillors reviewed a report on the committee, formed each election year to handle complaints about candidate’s campaign finances. The committee will hear complaints if a candidate has violated the elections act and determine if further investigation is needed.
The committee is usually formed for each municipal election cycle in partnership with Prince Edward County, Belleville, the Hastings Prince Edward district School Board, and the Algonquin and Lakeshore District School Board. The members of the committee serve for the entire term of the elected officials.
Council voted to approve forming the committee, with no debate.
