Impairment charges have been laid after officers received a traffic complaint in Prince Edward County.
OPP say a concerned citizen made the complaint at around 10:45 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, indicating a vehicle was being operated in a dangerous manner.
Officers located the driver and an Approved Screening Device was used.
The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.
67-year-old Dwayne Benway of Prince Edward County has been charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on Wednesday May 6, 2026.
Their driver’s licence was also suspended for a period of 90 days and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.
