Two motorists have been charged in two separate impaired-driving investigations occurring less than an hour apart.
Officers responded to a report from a concerned citizen about a passenger vehicle failing to maintain its lane on Ganaraska Road in the Municipality of Port Hope just before 3 p.m. on Sunday.
A vehicle matching the description was located and police conducted a traffic stop.
After speaking with the driver, officers entered into an impaired-driving investigation.
The motorist was taken into custody and transported to a detachment for further testing.
Twenty-seven-year-old Derrick Kiryowa of Whitby has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Later that same day at around 3:40 p.m., officers responded to a single‑vehicle collision on County Road 45 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand.
EMS were dispatched as a precaution after the vehicle left the roadway and entered a ditch.
After speaking with the uninjured driver, officers began an impaired-driving investigation.
The person was subsequently taken into custody.
Thirty-one-year-old Ruzo Bryan of Mississauga has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus.)
Each of the accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and a seven-day vehicle impound were also imposed.
