Belleville police have laid further charges including sexual assault against a Kingston Police Service member.
Last fall, the Belleville service was asked to conduct an independent investigation into an allegation of criminal harassment involving a Kingston member.
The officer was arrested and charged with one count of criminal harassment on February 11.
On March 24, as a result of further investigation into additional allegations from the complainant, the member was arrested and charged additionally with one count of sexual assault and one count of assault.
The member was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Belleville police say no further details will be released in order to protect the privacy of the victim and to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
