The Trenton Golden Hawks defeated the Newmarket Hurricanes 6-3 on Friday, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
Joey Brehmer, Joshua Penny, Andrew Wycisk, Lucas Digiantommaso, and Wyatt Gregory scored for the Golden Hawks.
The Golden Hawks opened scoring in the first 30 seconds of the first frame, before the Hurricanes came back with two goals of their own to take the lead. In the second, the Golden Hawks scored twice to take back the lead going into the final frame. In the third, the Golden Hawks scored three more times, extending their lead. A late goal by the Hurricanes wasn’t enough to catch up, and the Golden Hawks took the win.
The Hurricanes still lead the best-of-seven playoff series 3 to 1. The Golden Hawks will need to win the next three games to turn it around and stay in the playoffs.
The two teams are set to meet again on Sunday at the Dunc.
