An overnight fire in Brighton is out.
The call came in after around 2 a.m. this morning, to 19 and 21 Young Street, across from Sobey’s in downtown Brighton.
Fire crews responded from Brighton and Cramahe Township responded.
The flames started in the basement of the vacant building.
Flames climbed up the walls, and while firefighters were able to initially gain entrance to the building and check it out, they were met by fire at some point and had to retreat.
Flames were later seen shooting out the roof.
There were no injuries.
There will be an investigation into the cause However, Brighton Deputy Fire Chief Andrew Hutchison says, at this point, there’s no reason to believe it is suspicious.
