Prince Edward County is preparing for the upcoming 2026 municipal election, with the establishment of a Joint Compliance Audit Committee.
During Tuesday’s council meeting, county council voted to approve forming the audit committee.
The committee, formed in partnership with Belleville, Quinte West, the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board, and the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, serves to consider applications for compliance audits of a candidate’s election campaign finances.
The appointing of this committee occurs with each election cycle, with the committee serving for the term of the elected officials.
