The NCAA Men’s Hockey tournament begins today and there are some local ties with the final 16 teams.
That includes 21-year-old Donovan McCoy of Belleville.
“Where I’m at in my career, being an overager out of the OHL, having this opportunity to come down here to The States and play NCAA is obviously another dream of mine. You always have to pick between CHL or NCAA (until recent rule change) and now I was able to do both.”

He says their are focused after a disappointing quarter final loss in the Hockey East tournament.
“Obviously not the result we wanted. We knew that were were going to be in the tournament already (Frozen Four) with where we finished rankings wise, so we were just waiting and seeing how all the playoffs played out and what our path is going to be to hopefully get to Vegas to get to the Frozen Four.”
The Providence Friars are ranked 7th our of the 16th teams in the Frozen Four tournament.
