The Newmarket Hurricanes visited the Trenton Golden Hawks in game one of the second round of the OJHL playoffs Friday and left with a big 4-3 win.
The Hurricanes outshot the G-Hawks 38 to 31 on the night, scoring three in the second period.
Trenton came back with two goals in a penalty-filled third but came up short.
Scoring for Trenton were Daylen Moses, Beckett Ewart, and Kale Mace.
Over 800 fans watched the game. Game two is Sunday night at 8:30 in Newmarket.
Elsewhere in local hockey, in Jr. C it will be game one of the Tod Division Saturday night.
The Frankford Huskies will visit the Lakefield Chiefs at 7:25.
And in the Northern Premier Hockey League the Sentinel Cup final, a best-of five-between the Manotick Mariners and the Tweed Oil Kings starts Saturday night at 7:30 in Manotick.
Game 2 is Sunday at 6 p.m. in Tweed.
