Gleaners Food Bank has achieved accreditation through Food Banks Canada’s Standards of Excellence program. This accreditation is a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication to providing visitors with the highest quality of service.
The Food Banks Canada Standards are an objective set of industry standards and best practices to which Gleaners Food Bank, along with a host of other accredited food banks across Canada, holds itself accountable. The standards allow Gleaners to benchmark its future performance improvement in client service and care, food operations, safe food handling, financial and governance practices, and more.
The standards reflect the broader food banking sector’s thought leadership and commitment to continually enhancing the community’s work to relieve hunger today and prevent hunger tomorrow.
“Achieving accreditation through Food Banks Canada’s Standard of Excellence Program is a proud moment for all of us at Gleaners Food Bank and for the community we serve. This recognition reflects the hard work of our staff, volunteers, partners, and supporters who make it possible for us to provide safe, reliable, and dignified food support to thousands of individuals and families across our region every year. As the need for food assistance continues to grow, this accreditation confirms that Gleaners is operating at the highest national standards, ensuring that every donation, every program, and every service is delivered with accountability, compassion, and care. We are incredibly grateful to our community for standing with us, and this milestone strengthens our commitment to serving our neighbours with excellence today and into the future.” — Peter Kerr, Executive Director, Gleaners Food Bank
By becoming accredited, they can advance to an even stronger and more agile food banking system, activate shared learning, and amplify the work of the local food security sector partners as they strive to achieve the vision of a community that is hungry no more.
