The Special Investigations Unit has ended an investigation into an incident involving a Belleville Police Service officer.
The SIU invoked it’s mandate after a man suffered a fractured nose during an incident in August involving the officer at the Belleville General Hospital.
The officer had placed the man under arrest after he had become belligerent inside the emergency department waiting area. While he was being restrained by the officer and hospital security, the officer struck him multiple times. The man had attempted to headbutt and bite people during the incident.
Following the incident, the SIU launched an investigation into the officer’s actions, and found no grounds to place criminal charges against them.
