Another person has been charged in an investigation into a reported threat at East Northumberland Secondary School.
Northumberland OPP have charged a 38-year-old man with four counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.
The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in April.
The man’s name is not being identified by police to protect the identity of the youth charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
That youth remains charged with uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm.
On February 12, 2026, police received information regarding a potential threat to the safety of the Brighton school just before 9 a.m.
Police confirmed that the individual associated with the threat was not present at the school, and a hold and secure was not required.
The investigation remains ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Crime Unit.
OPP say no additional information will be released at this time.
