Central Hastings OPP have laid charges in two separate impaired driving investigations on the same day.
On Thursday, February 26, 2026 around 5:00 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle stuck in a snowbank on Moira St. in Tweed.
Officers attended the area and discovered that the vehicle was removed prior to police arrival.
Police say that officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of a business nearby.
The driver was located, arrested and transported to the Central Hastings OPP Detachment for testing.
Thirty-nine-year-old Jill Nietman of Toronto, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
At approximately 7:00 p.m. on the same day, police received a report from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver travelling north on Highway 37 in Tweed.
The vehicle was stopped by police on Highway 7, east of Highway 37.
The driver provided a sample of their breath into an approved alcohol screening device at the roadside.
Subsequently, the driver was arrested and taken to the Quinte West OPP Detachment for further testing.
Twenty-nine-year-old Jordan Baldwin of Addington Highlands was charged with:
- Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
- Fail to surrender insurance card
Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 19, 2026, and April 9, 2026 respectively.
Additionally, both drivers’ licences were suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for seven days.
