The City of Belleville’s garbage bag tags are set to increase in cost.
In a release, the city says that the price of the tag will increase from $3 to $3.50.
The increase is set to take effect on March 18.
City council had approved the increase as part of the 2026 budget, saying it reflects rising waste collection and processing costs.
The city says that user fees help support the long-term sustainability of waste services while managing overall impacts on the tax levy.
Garbage bag tags purchased before March 18 may continue to be used after the effective date.
Tags are available at regular retail locations and select city facilities.
