There certainly was generosity in the air across our entire region on Saturday night, as eight regional walks were held to raise money for various organizations and charities.
Kingston, Peterborough, Port Hope, Cobourg, Napanee, Picton, Quinte West, and Belleville host events for the Coldest Night of the Year.
In Peterborough, the walk was for Street Level Advocacy and included 154 walkers, 33 teams and 26 volunteers. It raised $37,735 or 94 per cent of the goal (amount raised as of March 2 at 9:00 a.m.).
In Kingston, the fundraiser was for Lionhearts Kingston and included 232 walkers, 38 teams and 13 volunteers. That event collected $78,651 or 121 per cent of the goal (amount raised as of March 2 at 9:00 a.m.).
In Port Hope, the funds went to the Green Wood Coalition and included 195 walkers, 37 teams and 29 volunteers. They surpassed their goal, raising $61,229 or 102 per cent (amount raised as of March 2 at 9:00 a.m.).
In Cobourg, where they focused on Hope and Light Urban Outreach there were 83 walkers, 19 teams and 40 volunteers. They got to 89 per cent of their goal collecting $26,850 (amount raised as of March 2 at 9:00 a.m.).
In Napanee the event was for Morningstar Relief Mission Inc. and had 172 walkers, 34 teams and 33 volunteers. That event reached 102 per cent of their target, raising an impressive $102,241 (amount raised as of March 2 at 9:00 a.m.).
In Picton, they got an astonishing 217 per cent of their goal. The event was for the Picton United Church Food Bank and included 140 walkers, 26 teams and 33 volunteers, collecting $65,128 (amount raised as of March 2 at 9:00 a.m.)
Quinte West walked for the Trenton Care and Share Food Bank. There were 94 walkers, 18 teams and 24 volunteers. They got to 92 per cent of their target, raising $41,672 (amount raised as of March 2 at 9:00 a.m.).
Finally in Belleville, the funds were for Grace Inn Shelter and and had an impressive 255 walkers, 50 teams and 35 volunteers. They got to 108 per cent of their target, raising $70,670 (amount raised as of March 2 at 9:00 a.m.).
In total, the region raised $484,176.
