Three Bay of Quinte communities are searching for people to join the 2026 Bay of Quinte Joint Compliance Audit Committee.
Belleville, Quinte West, and Prince Edward County are asking for applicants to the committee. The audit committee handles applications requesting an audit of a candidate’s or registered third-party advertiser’s election campaign finances. The committee’s authority includes reviewing applications and granting or rejecting the audit request, appointing an auditor, and determining whether legal proceedings need to be started.
Committee members must be able to understand and apply the election campaign finance provisions of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and be considered impartial in fulfilling their responsibilities. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in accounting, law, law enforcement or related academic fields.
The term of office will run from Nov. 15, 2026, to Nov. 14, 2030, and will address applications related to the 2026 municipal election and any by-elections during the 2026–2030 term of council.
