Olympic weightlifters and brothers Matthew Miller (15) and Reid Miller (12) of Trenton had successful performances at the Ontario Winter Games on the weekend.
The Olympic Weightlifting portion of the games was held on Friday, February 20.
Olympic Weightlifting consists of two lifts; the snatch, and the clean and jerk.
The winner is determined based on the highest combined weight in both techniques.
Reid Miller attained an impressive 3kg personal record in his snatch, while Matthew Miller achieved a 3kg personal record in the clean and jerk took home a gold medal in his weight category.
The Miller brothers train at Crossfit Creed in Trenton, coached by their father Mike Miller, a long-time lifter himself.
The Ontario Games is a multi-sport event held bi-annually with over 2,500 athletes and 17 sports showcasing the province’s top young athletes ages 12-18.
