Less than an hour before it was set to start, the City of Belleville announced that a roundtable with local MPPs has been postponed.
Belleville City Council was set to speak with Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp and Hastings–Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee on a number of pressing issues.
These include planning and development legislation, housing, homelessness and healthcare funding, downloaded costs and responsibilities, and communications with MPP offices.
No reason for the postponement was given.
The City of Belleville said in a release that the meeting will be rescheduled, and a new date will be announced once confirmed.
The idea for the roundtable stems from a similar effort from the City of Windsor back in November 2025.
Councillor Paul Carr had put forward the motion calling for the meeting to take place in January 2026 and would include Bay of Quinte MP Chris Malette and Hastings—Lennox and Addington—Tyendinaga MP Shelby Kramp-Neuman.
