Hastings County Planning and Development Committee has reviewed and approved the department’s 2026 budget.
The committee approved their budget during a meeting on Tuesday.
The Planning and Economic Development Department is preparing a budget of $1,626,070 for the year, a $5.28% increase in spending over 2025’s department budget.
Under this year’s budget, work on the Streamlined Planning Approach & Resource Centralization project will continue. The plan to improve planning services for member communities was put in place in 2025, and this will be the first full year with the new system in place.
The department budget also includes economic development initiatives and the administration of 911 services.
The committee approved the budget, and forwarded it to a later meeting of council for final approval.
