Northumberland OPP have laid another impaired driving charge in Hamilton Township.
On Monday, at close to 4:40 a.m., officers received a call about a vehicle that was stuck in a snowbank on Division Street.
Officers arrived on scene to find a black sedan with its front wheel lodged in a snowbank. A woman was found slouched over in the driver’s seat. Officers woke the driver, and smelled a strong smell of alcohol.
After speaking to the driver, officers suspected she had been consuming alcohol. The driver was taken into custody and transported to a nearby OPP detachment where investigative testing was conducted which resulted in the driver registering over three times the legal limit.
As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old Miranda Benoit of Colborne was charged with operation while impaired, and operation while impaired blood alcohol over 80.
She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
