Our paramedic family continues to feel the immense support of the community following the serious collision that critically injured two frontline paramedics earlier this week.
On what was an ordinary shift, two dedicated professionals were struck while serving the community. They now face a long road to recovery, surrounded by their families, colleagues, and an outpouring of support from across the region.
In the days since the incident, messages of encouragement, donations, and quiet acts of kindness have poured in. The compassion shown by residents, neighbouring services, and community partners has been deeply felt.
“We are trained to be there on the worst days of people’s lives,” said Samantha deHaan of CUPE 1842. “What we don’t expect is to rely on our community in this way. The support shown has been overwhelming, and we are incredibly grateful.”
A GoFundMe has been established to assist the injured paramedics and their families as they navigate recovery and the many challenges ahead. Funds raised will help alleviate financial pressures during this difficult time.

Now It’s Our Turn: Supporting Paramedics Mya and Zoraiz
We continue to ask for privacy and respect for the injured members and their families. This is a traumatic time for many, including the crews who responded to care for their own colleagues.
We thank the community for standing with our paramedic family. Your support matters more than you know.
