A Belleville man faces charges after police responded to a collision in Belleville’s west end on Tuesday.
Belleville police say they received a report on January 27 at 12:20 a.m. of a vehicle that had driven into a snowbank and that the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
According to a release, when police arrived, officers located the male driver who had returned to the vehicle.
When officers spoke with him, they spotted signs of impairment.
Forty-six-year-old Michael Maher of Belleville was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg.
He was released on an undertaking with a scheduled court date in March.
