Quinte West council will begin two days of budget deliberations on Wednesday.
As proposed, the draft budget features an average residential tax increase of 4.99 per cent.
On an average home assessed at $250,000 that increase would mean almost $200 a year more in local taxes.
About half of the increase is due to investment in capital projects.
Last year’s budget increase was just under six per cent.
Quinte West council’s two day budget discussions start at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Residents can view the meetings live on the city’s YouTube channel starting at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day: https://www.youtube.com/@City_Of_Quinte_West
