With Quinte Waste Solutions down to its final couple of weeks, the organization is issuing $1.5 million in municipal rebates as one of its final actions.
Quinte Waste Solutions and its operations will draw to a close on December 31 as a result of the shift in blue box responsibility to producers.
Hazardous and electronic Wwaste collection service is shifting to to GFL Environmental Services on January 1.
Nine member municipalities are sharing the $1.5 million.
General Manager Bill Sandison says Quinte Waste Solutions has consistently met financial targets, through operational efficiencies, establishment of reserves and improved revenue streams, resulting in monies being returned to the municipalities annually in the form of a reduced levy.
The Centre and South Hastings Waste Services Board, which owns and operates Quinte Waste Solutions, is in the process of selling the property located at 270 West Street in Quinte West and those net proceeds will be disbursed to the nine member municipalities after the sale.
The municipal rebates will be issued as follows:
Belleville – $492,104.52
Quinte West – $463,648.55
Centre Hastings – $55,658.32
Marmora and Lake – $53,595.83
Prince Edward County – $312,574.12
Tweed – $39,332.40
Tyendinaga – $28,920.03
Stirling Rawdon – $43,550.84
Madoc Township – $10,615.40
