The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) and the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB) have improved their
students’ test results in the 2024-25 school year.
On Wednesday, the Education Quality and Accountability Office released standardized test results from across the province in Grades 3 and 6 reading, writing, and math, Grade 9 math, and the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test.
For Grade 3 math: province-wide 64 per cent of students made provincial standards in the last school year
HPEDSB: 61 per cent of students made provincial standards, up from 56 per cent in the previous school year
ASLCDSB: 55 per cent of students met provincial standards, basically unchanged from 55 per cent the year before
For Grade 3 reading: province-wide 74 per cent of students made provincial standards
HPEDSB: 72 per cent met the standards, up from 65 per cent the year before
ALCDSB: 73 per cent met standards, up from 68 per cent
For Grade 3 writing: province-wide 65 per cent met standards in last school year
HPEDSB: 58 per cent made the grade, up from 55 per cent
ALCDSB: 58 per cent met standards, up from 54 per cent the year before
For Grade 6 math: province-wide 51 per cent of students met provincial standards
HPEDSB: 46 per cent met standards, up from 39 per cent
ALCDSB: 42 per cent met standards, up from 38 per cent
For Grade 6 reading: province-wide 86 per cent of students met standards
HPEDSB: 82 per cent standards, up from 73 per cent
ALCDSB: 85 per cent made the grade, up from 81 per cent
For Grade 6 writing: province-wide 85 per cent of students met provincial standards
HPEDSB: 83 per cent met standards, up from 78 percent
For Grade 9 math: province-wide 58 percent of students met provincial standards in the last school year
HPEDSB: 46 per cent met the standards, up from 36 per cent
ALCDSB: 51 per cent met standards, basically unchanged from 52 per cent the year before
Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test: province-wide 85 per cent of students passed the test on the first attempt
HPEDSB: 74 per cent passed the test on the first attempt, the same as in the previous school year
ALCDSB: 86 per cent passed on the first try, the same as in the 2023-24 school year
