Heritage Week is coming up next week and there will be a number of special events to mark this year’s celebration.
Heritage Belleville will be hosing a free event on Thursday, February 20 starting at 6 p.m. at UpFront Café .
It will feature an awards ceremony for this year’s Heritage Revitalization Award winners as well as a book reading with local author and historian Connie Carson.
In a release, the City of Belleville says that Carson will be reading an excerpt from her new book “Facades on Front” with a book signing to follow.
Meantime, the Glanmore National Historic Site will be holding a number of “Museum Chats” throughout the week at the lower level of Glanmore.
The chats will be held in an informal presentation format with museum staff and feature a variety of topics.
- Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. – “Wedgewood Designed for Canada”
- Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. – “Preserving your Heirlooms: Keeping Materials Safe for the Long-Term”
- Thursday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. – “From Attic to Basement”
- Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. – “Bad Victorian Ideas: Arsenic, Mercury and Lead… Oh my!”
Glanmore will also be hosting a special screening of “Celebrating Hockey History: The Story of the 1958/1959 Belleville McFarlands World Champion Hockey Team” on February 21 at 2 p.m. at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
