Cobourg Police Service responded to another “swatting” incident Monday at St. Mary Catholic Secondary School in Cobourg, following a report of threats.
Police responded around 10 a.m. and placed the school on hold and secure as officers conducted the investigation.
Police determined there were no immediate threats to the school and cleared the scene just before 11 a.m.
As part of the investigation, a search of the building was conducted and nothing suspicious was located.
No physical injuries have been reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
It is the third “swatting” incident at the school in a week.
Swatting is a criminal act where false or misleading information is provided to police to prompt an emergency response, often to someone’s home, business, or school.
Police say these calls divert critical police and emergency resources and place officers and community members at unnecessary risk and nyone found
responsible for swatting incidents can face serious criminal charges.
Cobourg Police also responded to a similar incident at CR Gummow Public School last week.
