A new, rather than expanded, Main Street sewage pumping station is being recommended for Picton.
Prince Edward County has completed a Class Environmental Assessment Addendum for the Main Street sewage pumping station and associated sanitary sewers.
The 2017 Environmental Assessment recommended expanding the current site but updates in the forecasted flow and population led the County to complete an addendum suggesting a new station within County-owned land along County Road 49.
This alternative would provide more space, improve operations and be sized for long-term flows.
The addendum also suggests upsizing and resloping the sanitary sewers from Fawcett Avenue to the new Picton Main Street sewage pumping station as well as resloping an upstream segment of sanitary sewers near Wellings/ Finnegan Drive.
The complete report is available on the County website. Written comments can be sent to Jeff Shortt, Project Manager, at jshortt@pecounty.on.ca by Thursday, September 21.
