While most people are focusing on the Canada Day long weekend and summer holidays, some are planning ahead for the coming school year.
United Way Hastings Prince Edward hopes to distribute 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to students whose families are struggling financially.
Families are encouraged to register for the backpack program now. Backpacks with supplies will be available for $12 per child or family.
Registration closes August 2 and if you can’t register online call the United Way’s office at 613-962-9531.
