A number of households in Hastings County received funding support from the federal government for isolating safely during the pandemic.
The Community and Human Services Committee has reported that 29 households were provided with the service.
Hastings County set up an isolation program, in collaboration with Hastings Prince Edward Public Health, identifying individuals who required an isolation site or supports.
Funding covered transportation, safe lodging, meals and incidentals, as well as on-site security and cleaning personnel as required.
The Community and Human Services Committee supported the staff recommendation to make a funding application for the Safe Voluntary Isolation Sites Program (SVISP).
The application was submitted and approved by Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) in June 2021.
On February 2, 2023, PHAC provided confirmation that the program ended as planned on March 31, 2023.
