
The Belleville Sports Hall of Fame has announced the recipients of the McDonald’s High School Athlete of the Year awards.
Talia Vreugdenhil from Quinte Christian School is the Female Athlete of the Year. Vreugdenhil excelled in both team and individual sports during her four years.
She was a key factor in the Eagles’ success in soccer, volleyball and basketball and competed at the Ontario High School Track and Field championships.
Talia will attend Redeemer University in Hamilton where she will study health sciences and play varsity basketball and soccer.

The Male Athlete of the Year is Mason Duvall from Centennial Secondary School.
Duvall is also a multi-sport athlete. He led the Chargers to both the Bay of Quinte and COSSA football championships. He also helped Centennial to an undefeated regular season record in Bay of Quinte High School Basketall. Duvall was a key contributor as the Chargers captured Bay of Quinte and COSSA gold in rugby to earn a berth in the Ontario High School championships where he was an MVP.
Duvall earned a first place finish in the 200 metre event at the Bay of Quinte Track and Field championship and coaches in the Belleville Youth Rugby program.
Mason will attend Guelph University on a Football Scholarship in September.
