A report on drinking water in the Quinte region indicates there have been hundreds of threats to drinking water.
In a report to a Hastings County committee on Tuesday, Brad McNevin, CAO of Quinte Conservation, indicated these include sewage systems, agriculture, waste disposal sites and snow storage.
Conservation authorities enter into agreements with the municipalities.
McNevin said the conservation authority’s planning represents the province’s planning in matters related to natural habitats.
Janet Noyes, Watershed Manager for Lower Trent Conservation, also commented.
“We’re looking at shoreline hazards ….on behalf of the province…soils and bedrock. When we’re providing comments on natural habits we’re providing those on behalf of the province.”
When questioned, McNevin indicated the definition of a wetland had been updated recently by the province of Ontario.
